WEBMETRICS GLOBALWATCH ADDS PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT
FOR STREAMING APPLICATIONS
San Diego, CA - September 6, 2006 -
Webmetrics, a leading provider of web performance management
solutions, today announced the ability to monitor web performance for streaming applications through its Webmetrics GlobalWatch service. Through a combination of their hosted SaaS (Software as a Service) application and Professional Services offerings, Webmetrics GlobalWatch will offer the unique ability to locate and track the quality of a specific video frame, such as a logo or product photo, providing advertisers with peace of mind and quality assurance not available until now. The company’s new offerings will monitor both on-demand and live streaming.
Streaming over the Internet is booming. The volume and variety of content has expanded faster than the solutions available to manage it. As more people spend more time in front of their computers instead of their televisions, advertisers are scrambling to reach this captive audience.
At the same time, with broadband access becoming standard, expectations for quality have never been higher. Inferior video performance due to network congestion or server overload reflects poorly on the brand being promoted, and advertisers can’t afford to waste the precious seconds they spent millions of dollars creating. On the flip side, content providers can now differentiate their services with the ability to provide objective performance monitoring.
“Performance monitoring for streaming applications has become mission critical for organizations that have shifted large portions of their advertising budget to the web,” said Tim Drees, Chief Executive Officer for Webmetrics. “Using Webmetrics GlobalWatch, companies can ensure their ads are being viewed without interruptions and track performance quality to make the most of this investment.”
Using Webmetrics GlobalWatch for Streaming, customers can specify the length of time to watch a stream and set thresholds for connection timeout, buffer timeout, stream quality (in terms of minimum expected throughput) and stream quality (in terms of maximum number of rebuffer events). Like all Webmetrics GlobalWatch services, comprehensive measurements, detailed reports and flexible alerts provide key insights into performance and enable companies to quickly respond to potential issues. In addition to standard performance metrics, Webmetrics gives customers the ability to create a “quality score” that can be used as a threshold to ensure performance expectations are being met.
Webmetrics GlobalWatch for Streaming supports Windows Media, Macromedia Flash in both progressive download and true streaming formats, and audio formats such as mp3, m3u, .wav, and .wma.
Pricing and Availability
Webmetrics GlobalWatch for Streaming is currently in beta and will be available for general release in October. Pricing variables include the number, type and frequency of streams monitored. For more information about Webmetrics GlobalWatch, email sales@webmetrics.com or call 1-877-524-8299 x1.
