WEBMETRICS ANNOUNCES PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT SOLUTIONS
FOR BUSINESSES USING AMAZON WEB SERVICES
Vendor Offers Performance Visibility Into Amazon Web Services
San Diego, CA - April 17, 2007 – Webmetrics, a leading provider of collaborative monitoring solutions for enterprise web ecosystems, today announced a suite of performance management services designed exclusively for Amazon Web Services (AWS). Webmetrics’ GlobalWatch is a performance-monitoring bundle that provides subscribers with real-time status and performance data for Amazon’s widely adopted web services, including Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3), Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), and Amazon Simple Queue Service (Amazon SQS), as well as Amazon’s e-commerce and product data service, Amazon E-commerce Service (Amazon ECS). SiteStress uses Webmetrics’ independent global testing network to load test applications that leverage Amazon EC2. These new services help developers optimize their use of AWS technologies across their web ecosystems.
“In the mashup world, the performance of web applications have grown increasing dependant on externally managed APIs and connected infrastructure services,” said Peter Kirwan, Chief Strategy Officer, Webmetrics. “For businesses that tie into Amazon Web Services, GlobalWatch provides a holistic view of web ecosystem performance, down to the API level. This shared data helps businesses better manage their business-critical services, enabling faster problem resolution and higher quality of service.”
“More businesses than ever are using multiple solutions from Amazon Web Services to maximize their web scale readiness while keeping costs down,” said Steve Rabuchin, Director of Developer Relations for Amazon Web Services. “Webmetrics saw this practice coming and built a solution to make it even easier for businesses to jump on board.”
GlobalWatch provides subscribers with real-time access to performance monitoring data and alerting for Amazon’s suite of web services. Webmetrics is currently monitoring the following Amazon Web Services, which comprise the shared data set for GlobalWatch. Service subscribers gain access to status and performance data for:
-

Load Testing for EC2-Delivered Applications
Amazon EC2 extends the on-demand capacity of Amazon’s computing platform for a variety of applications, such as hosting, back up and disaster recovery. SiteStress is a load testing service that challenges the performance and scalability of AWS infrastructure deployments from Webmetrics independent GlobalWatch Network. This service enables customers to simulate and test how their business applications will behave on Amazon’s EC2 service. It can also be used to help quantify the performance benefits of utilizing Amazon’s EC2 as compared to self-maintained or other third party infrastructures.
Pricing and Availability
These new GlobalWatch services will be available next month on subscription basis. SiteStress is now available for single engagement load tests or as a subscription-based service.
