Agents in 80 Cities
Webmetrics has been hard at work expanding our GlobalWatch Network. We're pleased to announce that our network now spans 80 cities across the world on both our Standard and RIA platforms.
Graph Scaling Changes
Webmetrics' graphs now auto-scale to the highest point on the graph (whether it's one second or 15 seconds) in order to provide you with greater visibility into your performance. Previously, the minimum scale on a graph was always 10 seconds; as such, this change will affect the look of some of your graphs. Please click here to learn more.
Web Services Pricing Reduced!
We've recently reduced the pricing on our sophisticated Web Services/API monitoring solution. Need to track the performance and uptime of your APIs and those of others on whom you rely? Learn More.
60 Second RIA Monitoring Now Available
Our Rich Internet Application (RIA) monitoring service is now available for monitoring sites and applications in 60-second intervals. This Platinum RIA service utilizes Internet Explorer® 7 to capture the true browser fidelity of an authentic end-user experience.
Tips and Tricks
Many times, clients want to create or include custom graphs in their daily, weekly, or monthly reports. Customizations could include adding a benchmark, showing the performance of the worst hour or the worst day, showing bandwidth estimations for load times, and much more. All of this can be done by using the "Save Template As" functionality as outlined on our help page!

Dear Customer:
Welcome to the Quarterly Monitor, our new Webmetrics newsletter! In this and future editions, we'll share tips for making the most out of your Webmetrics services, recent product updates, upcoming offerings in the pipeline, and more. We hope you'll find the Monitor engaging and informative.
2008 was a busy year at Webmetrics. As you may know, we were acquired by Neustar (NYSE: NSR). As a strong, public company, Neustar is able to properly invest in Webmetrics to help us grow and develop new and better products to meet your needs. As an example, we held a roundtable event in October to get feedback from customers that use our services on a regular basis. The valuable information we collected is helping us fine-tune our product roadmap to make sure we have you in mind in everything we do. To view a summary of the product updates made in 2008, and to see what the future holds for our roadmap, please click here.
We hope you'll enjoy some of the new initiatives we'll be undertaking. They include surveys and events to gain customer feedback, webinars to keep you informed, and new products launched as a result of the input we continue to receive. We're listening, so please feel free to contact us if there is something you'd like to see included in the newsletter or if you have a great new idea to share.
Best wishes for a happy, healthy and successful 2009! |

The Year in 2008
Looking back at 2008, Webmetrics reached some significant milestones for GlobalWatch Monitoring. Along with ongoing product improvements, tweaks, and fixes that Webmetrics provides as “Software as a Service” (SaaS) to all its customers, we added or improved the following:
Internal Agent
- Enhanced configuration of our Internal Agent for monitoring applications behind a firewall (e.g., for internal applications, or for rolling out applications to key customers or partners or even applications in a QA/development environment).
- Introduced Internal Agent for Rich Internet Applications (RIA), using IE7 to provide the most accurate site and transaction monitoring. Now, internal applications can be measured with exactly the same accuracy as seen externally from our RIA GlobalWatch monitoring network.
Adding More Services to Accounts
- In response to customer feedback, we've made it much easier to add more monitoring services to accounts. Duplicating existing services means that all the settings in one service are replicated in the new service.
Metered Usage
- A more flexible way to use and deploy our monitoring services. Customers can pre-purchase monitoring “units,” which get consumed as each monitoring sample is taken. Units can be used across any monitoring service at the frequency of the customer's choosing, as and when customers need them. Our ever-popular Fixed Usage remains available, but Metered Usage eliminates the need for addendums to existing contracts when adding new services!
API 2.0
- All account and service settings can be accessed and updated using our new API. This offering is excellent for those with a large number of services.
Ecosystem Management
- In August, we released the first version of Ecosystem Management, a major new feature which allows users to monitor complex infrastructure and services, as well as to share and receive monitoring information with others. Ecosystem Management functionality superseded existing Master / Sub-Account functionality.
SiteStress
- Our Load Testing service had a significant upgrade during Q4, with more graphs and better reporting to drill through to the complex analysis that SiteStress provides.
Plans for 2009
As well as listening out for suggestions from our customers, we had our Customer Round Table in October, which generated heaps of product enhancements. Here are some that we're working on already:
API / Web Services on Alert
- As well as sending you an email or SMS message when a service violates success criteria, you can receive the alert via Web Services as well. For example, this could change an internal diagnostic setting or initiate a fail-over procedure – which could come in very handy when you need it most!
Maintenance Windows
- Better configuration and management of maintenance windows.
